ITI Virtual Product Development Group / ITI ProjectView™ History
The ITI Virtual Product Development Group was initially founded as ITI's internal "Special Projects Group". Its key function was to apply technology to facilitate ongoing ITI consulting engagements. ITI ProjectView™ was one of the early technology tools designed to aid project tracking and document sharing. It was developed in the early 1990's, before the Internet, and was known as "ITI TeamCommand". After the Internet revolution, it became a web based application. Although the tool was developed for internal use, many ITI clients began to ask if they could purchase it to manage all of their projects. In 2003, the software was re-named "ITI ProjectView™", and an effort was made to productize it for the general market. Today, all ITI product development projects use ITI ProjectView™ for data sharing, collaboration, and project management.

Today, the ITI Virtual Product Development group is responsible for the ITI ProjectView™ software, ITI QFDCapture™ Software and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) consulting, Systems Engineering Data Management (SEDM) and collaboration support for product development projects, and Software CPPD™, which is the application of ITI's breakthrough Concurrent Product/Process Development process applied to software development.

Key recent projects for the ITI VPD group include:

    • A Software CPPD™ project for a major Japanese medical systems manufacturer, where a team of over 100 developers spread throughout North America, India, and Japan created a management console interface for all of the manufacturer's medical devices

    • Work on the US Navy Damage Control and Training Simulation (DCTMS) project, through partner Thomas Associates, Inc., to solve specific software development and IT issues
